Manages the hospital-wide centralized credentialing program and related activities for initial appointment of qualified physicians and other health care practitioners including the processing and analyzing of new applications, requests for temporary privileges, locum tenens and disaster privileges for medical staff members. Identifies key issues and problems, analyzes and evaluates information and advises medical staff leadership and administration on issues related to credentialing.

The Physician Assistant (PA) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards.The PA I typically work in an outpatient clinic or area with set hours (i.e., PAT, Employee Health). The PA II typically work in a set acute care setting managing patient care which can include critical care, OB/GYN, Oncology, and Pediatrics. The PA III typically work in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc), multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery.A PA is a graduate with a master's degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program at an accredited school or college. The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).

Accurately posts charges for provider services in a timely manner, reviews and verifies appropriate usage of modifiers, diagnosis and CPT-4 codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduled hours to ensure all charges are posted daily and at month end to meet department goals. Analyzes patient initial visits and physician rounding sheets daily for physician coding. Capture correct information for entering charges. Follow-up with incoming and outgoing departmental mail. Interacts with FPG Physicians, Office Managers CBO staff and other appropriate SMH staff to review charge posting issues. Responsible for keeping abreast of and complying with all third party regulations. Handles all correspondence and all communications in a timely manner. Job knowledge is section specific. Ability to demonstrate Customer Service Recovery, be flexible and adapt to changes in growth within the CBO Department.

Performs diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related ultrasound-guided procedures in First Physician’s Group’s Office of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
