The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The APRN I typically works in an outpatient clinic or area with set hours (i.e., PAT, Employee Health).An APRN is a registered nurse and therefore can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a registered nurse. In addition, an APRN holds a master’s or doctoral degree. The APRN functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced nursing care to patients within the APRN’s scope of practice.

Professionally interviews and schedules patients for outpatient service including preregistration. Coordinates patient schedules to maximize patient and physician satisfaction institution-wide. Communicates patient instructions and directions, physician order requirement, authorization/pre-certification/referral requirement to patients, physician office staff, and other SMHCS personnel. Maintains scheduling and pre-registration accuracy rate per department standards. Creates estimate for patient financial responsibility and collects co-insurance, co-payment, and deductible as indicated. Initiates process to assure the patient meets the hospital financial policies/guidelines for services to be rendered and transfers to appropriate departments for more complex situations.

Responsible for patient related activities, which include patient scheduling, patient check-in, checkout, and follow up activities. Job Summary:   First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is looking to employ a Physician Assistant to join our FPG Urology practice in Venice, Florida.  SMH-Venice Hospital is located on a 65-acre campus and features a 365,000-square-foot, 5 story hospital with 110 private patient suites, a 28-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites.  With work already underway on a third patient tower to add 68 private patient suites, SMH-Venice has plans in place to more than double in size to 400 private inpatient suites, 16 surgical suites and a 50-bed ER.   Responsibilities: - Full time Physician Assistant (PA-C) position on staff at one hospital - Busy practice made up of four outstanding Urologists and one Physician Assistant with large support staff.  - Primarily clinic based with consult service; First Assist responsibilities are optional. - Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. - ER Call will include 52 weekdays per year and one weekend a month. - Urologists will work in tandem with PA-C and are committed to teaching. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Sarasota Memorial Hospital - FPG provides financial leadership to the First physicians Group (FPG)management group. Working as a partner with the Corporate Finance division team in a matrix organizational structure, the CFO serves as the financial interface to the FPG senior leadership team and department directors. The CFO is also responsible for trouble-shooting issues, establishing the annual operating and capital budgets for FPG, monitoring budget compliance throughout the year, preparing proformas on proposals for new equipment or service lines, and preparing look-back analyses on existing business, as well as, supporting compliance with all external regulations and internal policies.

Performs collection functions for First Physician Group. Reviews charges and verifies appropriate usage of modifiers, CPT-4, ICD-9 and ICD-10 code ensure appropriate reimbursement. Analyzes and corrects claims to ensure accurate and timely claims submission. Sets up account for Client Services and collects past due balances. Responsible for resubmission of claims for additional reimbursement and/or appealing said claims with timely follow up. Responsible for calculating and posting contractual allowances accurately and timely keeping the AR to a minimum. Responsible for incoming and outgoing mail. Researches and answers customer’s questions regarding billing disputes. Interacts with FPG Physicians, Office Managers, CBO staff, and other appropriate SMH staff to review coding and billing issues. Responsible for keeping abreast of and complying with all third party regulations. Responsible for ensuring all fee schedules are kept current and MMS updated. Handles all correspondence and all communications in a timely manner. Job knowledge is section specific. Ability to demonstrate Customer Service Recovery, be flexible and adapt to changes in growth within the CBO Department.
