Job Summary

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is accepting CVs from interested Physician Assistants to join their Urology practice in Venice, Florida. 

 

Venice is located approximately 90 minutes south of Tampa and 1 hour north of Fort Myers on the West Coast of Florida. The area is known for its nationally recognized schools, arts & cultural events, great restaurants, and minutes from the beautiful beaches of Siesta Key, Longboat Key and Lido Key.

 

SMH-Venice Hospital opened in December 2021, located on a 65-acre campus and features a 365,000-square-foot, 5 story hospital with 212 private patient suites, a 61-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites to include a daVinci XI Robot.  The adjoining 2 story, 60,000-square-foot Medical Office Building is where the urology practice is conveniently located.

 

Position Highlights:

  • Busy general urology practice made up of five outstanding Urologists and four Advanced Practice Providers with large support staff.
  • Four days clinic practice and one day hospital rounding.
  • Call 1:5 weeknight and 1:5 weekend.
  • Opportunity for clinic/hospital procedures.
  • Comprehensive practice orientation and urology training.

Requirements:

  • Current NCCPA certification required and must also have an active license by the State of Florida by the time of hire.
  • Board Certified Physician Assistant who has active, relevant and routine experience in 2 of the last 4 years (defined as at least 500 acute care inpatient encounters over two years) or has graduated in the last 18 months.
  • BLS required.
  • DEA Certificate

'The Physician Assistant (PA) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The PA III typically works in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc), multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery. A PA is a graduate with a master’s degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program at an accredited school or college. The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).'

Required Qualifications

- Require current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Require bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.

- Prefer ability to work independently and effectively with physicians and other allied health personnel in the hospital and/or office setting.
- Prefer demonstrated clinical competency skills.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing.
- Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
- Prefer effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
- Prefer effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
- Prefer knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
- Prefer knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs.
