Job Summary

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking to employ a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join their Gynecologic Oncology Group on the West Coast of Florida.  

 

Sarasota is located approximately 60 minutes south of Tampa.  The area is known for the arts, great restaurants, world-class beaches, excellent schools, and a wide variety of activities for all ages.

Sarasota Memorial's Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute is an 8-story inpatient and surgical Oncology Tower providing patients with the full continuum of modern cancer care — from diagnosis and intervention to survivorship care — under one roof.  The Cancer Care tower is a 180,000 square feet building featuring 56 dedicated private suites, 9 operating rooms outfitted with the latest surgical technology, including leading-edge robotic surgical suites with Da Vinci robots.

 

A new Outpatient Cancer Pavilion is under construction and will open in 2026 with additional radiation oncology, surgical oncology and medical oncology capabilities to facilitate effective multidisciplinary care.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Join two (2) Fellowship trained Gynecologic Oncologists and one Physician Assistant.
  • On staff at one hospital with clinic located on the campus of the hospital.
  • Schedule is Monday – Friday – no weekends or Holidays.
  • NO CALL REQUIREMENTS
  • First and second assisting in the Operating Room.
  • Rounding on inpatients, seeing consults and coordinating care of patients in the outpatient clinic.

Requirements:

  • Board Certified Physician Assistant and who has active, relevant, and routine experience in 2 of the last 4 years (defined as at least 500 acute care inpatient encounters over two years) or has graduated within the last 18 months.
  • Must have an active license by the State of Florida by the time of hire.
  • BLS required.
  • DEA license preferred.

The PA III typically works in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc), multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery. A PA is a graduate with a master’s degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program at an accredited school or college. The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).'

Required Qualifications

- Require current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Require bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.

- Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
- Prefer effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
- Prefer effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
- Prefer knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
- Prefer knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs.
