Head and Neck Surgical Physician Assistant

First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) is seeking to employ a Physician Assistant to join a rapidly growing Head & Neck Oncology Program. Conveniently located on Sarasota Memorial Hospital - Sarasota, the hired Physician Assistant will join an additional PA and two Surgeons.

SMH – Sarasota, an 897-bed hospital, is the only hospital in Sarasota County providing Level II Trauma, Level III NICU, pediatric services and behavioral health for people of all ages.  Located on the Sarasota campus is The Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute. The Oncology Tower is a 170,000 sq ft building that includes 56 private suites for hospitalized cancer patients, nine (9) state of the art operating rooms with a dedicated robotic surgery suite and integrative care services offering patient navigation and family/caregiver support.

A new Outpatient Cancer Pavilion is under construction and will open in 2026 with additional radiation oncology, surgical and medical oncology capabilities to facilitate effective multidisciplinary care.

Position Highlights:

• Full time, 40-hours / week
• Responsibilities in OR, clinic, and rounding in SMH-Sarasota.
• First Assist in OR – free flaps, robotics, inspire, cosmetic facial plastics.
• In clinic, seeing post-operative patients with future plan to manage survivorship clinic.
• No call, no weekends.
• Experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate.

The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).'

- Require current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Require bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.

- Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
- Prefer effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
- Prefer effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
- Prefer knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
- Prefer knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs.
