This leader has operational accountability and oversight, and manages the daily activities of the department or area. In this role, the leader sets the tone and models positive leadership behavior, while ensuring team work tasks, projects, and responsibilities are completed successfully in support of departmental and organizational goals.
- Require a Coding Specialist certification (CCS).
- Require a bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field; or must obtain within two (2) years of hire date.
- Require proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems.
- Require demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task.
- Require demonstrated knowledge of facility coding and hospital reimbursement.
- Require ability to work independently, prioritize the work of self and others, make decisions, collaborate, and delegate as appropriate.
- Prefer a Registered Health Information Administrator certification with a minimum of three (3) years of coding management experience or a Registered Health Information Technician certification with five (5) years coding management experience.
- Prefer proficiency in coding inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery, and emergency visit types.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of legal aspects of health information management.
- Prefer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Prefer an AHIMA ICD-10 trainer certification.
- Prefer knowledge of medical record and coding software.
