First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is looking to employ a Physician Assistant to join our FPG Urology practice in Venice, Florida. 

SMH-Venice Hospital is located on a 65-acre campus and features a 365,000-square-foot, 5 story hospital with 110 private patient suites, a 28-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites. 

With work already underway on a third patient tower to add 68 private patient suites, SMH-Venice has plans in place to more than double in size to 400 private inpatient suites, 16 surgical suites and a 50-bed ER.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Full time Physician Assistant (PA-C) position on staff at one hospital
  • Busy practice made up of four outstanding Urologists and one Physician Assistant with large support staff. 
  • Primarily clinic based with consult service; First Assist responsibilities are optional.
  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • ER Call will include 52 weekdays per year and one weekend a month.
  • Urologists will work in tandem with PA-C and are committed to teaching.

The Physician Assistant (PA) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The PA III typically work in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc), multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery. A PA is a graduate with a master’s degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program at an accredited school or college. The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).'

Required Qualifications

- Require current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Require bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.

 

  • Graduation from an accredited master’s degree program
  • Current board certification
  • Active or eligibility for licensure by the State of Florida
  • BLS
  • DEA Certificate
  • New or experienced PA-C with Urology interest is encouraged to apply.

- Prefer ability to work independently and effectively with physicians and other allied health personnel in the hospital and/or office setting.
- Prefer demonstrated clinical competency skills.
- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing.
- Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
- Prefer effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
- Prefer effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
- Prefer knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations.
- Prefer knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs.
